Pattaya is an easy onward stop from Suvarnabhumi, but your hotel area matters when choosing a bus.

Heading straight to Pattaya after landing at Suvarnabhumi? You can take a direct airport bus, arrange a shared hotel transfer, or travel by taxi or private car. There is no need to go into central Bangkok first.

The choice becomes much easier once you know where your hotel is. A cheap bus ticket can work well for a solo traveler, while a family with several suitcases may prefer one car straight to reception.

Quick answer: Choose the direct bus for a low-cost trip, checking whether it ends in North Pattaya or Jomtien. Choose a car for late arrivals, heavy luggage or door-to-door convenience. Expect roughly two hours on the road, plus airport formalities and any waiting. Friday evenings, holiday weekends and heavy rain can make the drive longer, so leave extra time.

Important: the 22:00 departure on the Jomtien timetable ends at Pattaya bus station and does not continue to Jomtien station. Check this before relying on the last bus.

Verify your travel day's service on the official North Pattaya route page or Jomtien route page.

Should You Book Before Landing?

Advance booking secures a seat, but leave a generous gap after your scheduled landing. Immigration, bags and a flight delay can change your timing. Buying after arrival gives you flexibility, though the next departure may be full.

The operator's booking and luggage FAQ asks for check-in at least 30 minutes before departure. It lists non-refundable tickets, and a 50 THB per-person fee to move a missed booking after a flight delay to a later service with seats. Confirm the terms attached to your ticket.

The standard allowance listed is one suitcase up to 20 kg and one small personal bag. Check extra-bag, oversized-item and stroller charges before choosing the bus for a family.

North Pattaya or Jomtien: Which Stop Should You Choose?

The cheapest ticket is only part of your arrival cost. Compare the final ride to your hotel as well, particularly if you have luggage.

North Pattaya terminal is on North Pattaya Road near Sukhumvit Road. The Jomtien route also lists intermediate drop-offs on Sukhumvit Road; ask staff which, if any, makes sense for you. Getting off beside a busy road can be less convenient than continuing to a terminal with your bags.

Once you reach the bus terminal, you still need to get to your hotel. With large suitcases, an app car or a pickup arranged by your hotel is usually easier. A songthaew—a pickup truck with bench seats—can be an option with light luggage, but check the route, price and available space before boarding. The airport bus ticket does not include this onward ride.

Shared Transfers to Pattaya Hotels

Bell Travel Service is a transport company offering a shared transfer from Suvarnabhumi to covered Pattaya hotels. You travel with other passengers, rather than booking a car just for your group. To book, use the official Bell Travel Service booking website, select Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya and check that your hotel is listed. At the airport, go to the check-in counter on Level 1, Gate 8, and show your booking confirmation. Its listed airport departures are 08:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30 and 18:00, with check-in at Level 1, Gate 8.

Check that your exact hotel is covered, what the quoted fare includes and how the connection is handled. Shared hotel delivery can take longer than traveling straight to one address.

Use the official shared and private transfer page for current availability. Do not assume that an ordinary bus booking includes this service.

Taxi, Grab or a Pre-Booked Car?

A car is often worth comparing if several people are splitting the fare. Calculate bus tickets plus the onward hotel ride before deciding how much you would actually save.

Public Airport Taxi

Use the official taxi queue on Level 1, between Gates 4 and 7, and obtain a queue ticket. The airport lists metered fares with a 50 THB airport surcharge; baggage charges may apply. Confirm that the driver accepts the Pattaya journey, how the fare will be calculated and how tolls are handled before leaving.

Keep the queue ticket and hotel address. Follow the airport's current transport guidance rather than unsolicited offers in the arrivals hall.

Grab

Check the live app quote, the vehicle's luggage capacity and the pickup instructions. The airport currently identifies the Grab pickup at Level 1, Gate 4, outer curb; follow the app if it directs you differently. A quoted app fare is more useful than a price copied from an old travel guide.

Pre-Booked Private Transfer

For a pre-arranged airport pickup, you can check Welcome Pickups transfers from Suvarnabhumi to your Pattaya hotel. Enter your exact address and travel details to compare the current quote. Before confirming any provider, ask for the total to your hotel, meeting point, flight-delay policy, included waiting time and cancellation terms. Reserve enough room for both people and bags, and request a child seat in advance if needed.

Arriving Late at Night

A flight landing before the last bus does not guarantee you can catch it. You still need to clear immigration, collect luggage and reach the counter before check-in closes.

If the timing is tight, plan a car rather than building your arrival around the final departure. Confirm late pickup with the transfer provider and late check-in with your hotel. Save the booking confirmation offline in case your mobile connection is not ready.

Before Leaving the Airport

  • Check your airport code: this guide is for Suvarnabhumi (BKK), not Don Mueang (DMK) or U-Tapao (UTP).
  • Keep some Thai cash: useful for a counter purchase or onward ride; confirm payment methods.
  • Save your hotel pin: include the entrance, not just a similar hotel name.
  • Arrange mobile data: useful for your driver, hotel and onward transport.

If your phone supports eSIM and is unlocked, you can check Airalo's Thailand eSIM options before departure. Check device compatibility and activation instructions for the plan you choose.

Pattaya to Suvarnabhumi: Plan the Return Separately

Do not assume the return bus leaves from the same place where you got off. Check the departure terminal and buy the correct direction.

For your flight, work backwards from the airline's required arrival time: add the road journey, a traffic buffer, bus check-in and the trip from your hotel to the station. A scheduled two-hour journey is not a guarantee. Choose a car if the first available bus leaves too little margin.

Bell's shared service also offers hotel pickup for the return journey; confirm coverage and pickup time when booking. Always give the driver or booking agent the name Suvarnabhumi Airport (BKK).

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I Need to Go into Bangkok to Reach Pattaya?

No. Direct buses and cars leave from Suvarnabhumi. Going into Bangkok first adds an unnecessary change if Pattaya is your next stop.

Is There a Direct Train from BKK Airport to Pattaya?

There is no direct airport passenger train for this trip. The Airport Rail Link serves Bangkok; use a direct bus or car for a straightforward arrival in Pattaya.

Does the Airport Bus Stop at My Hotel?

An ordinary bus ticket is for a route stop or terminal. Hotel delivery is a separate shared-transfer service or a private-car booking.

Which Option Is Best for a Solo Traveler?

A bus is usually the first option to compare for cost. Add the final hotel ride, and check whether waiting for the next available seat still suits your arrival.

Which Option Is Best for a Family?

Compare one appropriately sized car with all bus tickets and the onward ride. Door-to-door travel becomes more appealing with children, strollers and several bags.

Our recommendation: choose the bus when its route and departure fit your hotel and budget. Choose a car when a simpler arrival matters more than the lowest ticket price.
